- Google Cloud and Box Inc recently partnered to help customers transform the way they work and enhance the experience for organizations using G Suite with Box to power secure work in the cloud.
As part of the collaboration, Box will use Google Cloud to enhance the scale, performance, and intelligence of its cloud content management platform globally and as a key provider for data storage across the globe.
COVID-19 presents a unique and significant challenge for providers who are attempting to manage the constant flow of data between systems.
The pandemic has forced organizations to create easy and efficient ways to allow their workers to manage their work from home.
As more healthcare companies shift to remote work in the cloud, Box said it will substantially expand its usage of Google Cloud to enhance its core infrastructure.
As part of the collaboration, the companies will build on their machine learning capabilities to deliver Google Cloud’s Document AI as part of the Box Skills Kit to improve intelligent data processing.
They will also explore further integrations to enhance intelligent security and compliance use cases to help customers safeguard sensitive content.
“We are excited to extend our partnership with Box as a key global cloud infrastructure partner, and to enable more seamless integrations between Box and G Suite environments,” Thomas Kurian, CEO at Google Cloud, said in the announcement.
“By building on Google Cloud and continuing to invest in the integration between Box and G Suite, we believe we can provide optimal experiences for our joint customers and for remote teams.”
By the end of 2020, Box stated that it will build single sign-on enhancements, which allows customers to set up their identity configurations with minimal effort.
Additionally, Box will add support for Google Authenticator for two-factor authentication of managed users and external collaborators via time-based OTP, Google said.
“We're in the middle of a major transformation in how business gets done. The ability to work from anywhere, leverage global talent and virtual teams, and to collaborate securely with colleagues, partners, and customers is the 'new normal' for every business,” said Aaron Levie, cofounder and CEO of Box.
“Google Cloud is an incredibly important partner as we innovate and scale to bring secure collaboration to our customers globally, and we're excited to continue making the combination of Box and G Suite as intuitive and seamless as possible for our customers.”
Box and Google Cloud have taken steps to integrate Box and G Suite to help customers simplify how they work and collaborate securely in the cloud.
Back in 2018, the companies announced an initial integration between Box and Google Docs, Sheets and Slides.
As organizations expand their technology stacks, critical information becomes dispersed across numerous tools and applications, which makes it challenging to secure and manage.
The Box for G Suite solution centralizes G Suite content to one secure hub in Box and also boosts employee productivity and collaboration. Organizations can ensure that consistent security, compliance, and governance measures are applied to all content, Box said in the announcement.
