ALEXANDRIA, Va.—Fortune Magazine has included Sheetz Inc., on its list of 75 Best Large Workplaces for Women. Sheetz grabbed the No. 64 spot, having been on the list each year since 2016.

Fortune’s Best Workplaces for Women lists are comprised of feedback representing more than 5.6 million U.S. employees.
Stephanie Doliveira, vice president of human resources, tells Fortune that creating a great place to work for women is personal to her after being sexually harassed at a former job when she was 16. She’s been at Sheetz for 20 years, and she is proudest of the company’s safe, inclusive environment for women.
The company has a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, an anonymous hotline to report incidents and an employee relations team in HR that listens to and investigates team member complaints, and recently, Sheetz introduced a domestic abuse awareness training initiative to help Sheetz store managers identify if an employee is in a domestic abuse situation. The initiative also includes counseling and emergency relief funds.
As at Sheetz, workplaces can benefit from leveraging the unique perspective and strengths that women can bring to the organizational table. The NACS Women’s Leadership Program at Yale University—held digitally this fall—offers strategies and insights for women in leadership positions. Graciously endowed by Altria, this year’s digital-live program offers two weeks of coursework Oct. 26 through Nov. 4, which can be integrated into an attendee’s current work schedule.
