Instead of buying herbs in a store, a nonprofit in the Grand Traverse area is teaching people the benefits of growing their own.
Tuesday night the Master Gardener Association of Northwest Michigan is teaching people how to fill their kitchens with home-grown herbs like cilantro, basil and much more.
The organization says even if you have a record of killing plants, don’t worry! Herbs don’t need a lot of attention.
All you need is a little water, warmth and light, says Michele Worden, president of the association.
“You don’t need a lot of space, you don’t need a lot of time, you don’t actually need a lot of care to grow your own herbs, but you will get a huge bang for your buck,” she said.
The event will be at the Boardman River Nature Center Tuesday, March 3. An optional potluck will be served at 6 p.m. and the program will start at 6:30 p.m. Click here to learn more.
The event is open to the public and a $5 donation to the nonprofit is appreciated.
