According to ESPN’s Field Yates, the Indianapolis Colts worked out free agent veteran safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix among a group of players on Thursday:

The former 2014 first round pick of the Green Bay Packers (2014-18) has also spent time with the Washington Football Team (2018), Chicago Bears (2019), and Dallas Cowboys (*2020) organizations.
He has recorded 522 tackles (417 solo), 8 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, 16 interceptions, 33 passes defensed, 4 forced fumbles, and 4 fumble recoveries during 96 career games (90 starts) in his 7-year pro career.
Clinton-Dix was a Pro Bowler and NFL 2nd-Team All-Pro member with the Packers in 2016.
He signed with the Cowboys for 1-year, $3.75M last offseason but was released just before the start of the 2020 regular season.
He visited the Carolina Panthers mandatory mini-camp earlier this past mid-June.
The last season Clinton-Dix played in 2019, per PFF, he received a +74.2 overall grade while as a member of the Chicago Bears secondary—including a +75.5 coverage grade.
During his sole season in Chicago, Clinton-Dix was targeted 36 times in coverage for 24 receptions, 220 receiving yards (9.2 ypr. avg.), a touchdown, 2 interceptions, 2 pass breakups, and an allowed NFL passer rating of 69.2—while committing 2 total penalties.
Colts’ rookie 5th round safety Shawn Davis has been dealing with a hamstring injury and was held out of recent training camp practices (as was specials teams’ stud George Odum).
With Malik Hooker having recently departed to the Dallas Cowboys, perhaps the Colts are looking to add some experienced depth to the backend of their secondary—with Davis currently on the mend.
The Colts frequently deploy three safeties in sub-package work, so the backup position is no doubt an important one for Indianapolis’ defense.
